Legacy Projects
Three Bottles
This creative installation art project was specially designed for the grand opening of Phase 1 of Ang Mo Kio Walking and Cycling Town, invited by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore. The mural installation was created by Zoe Lin, who won the Merit Award from the 2015 Singapore URA "My Ideal for Public Space" competition with her "Forgotten Spaces" project. Following this recognition, URA invited her to participate in this opening ceremony. Zoe Lin had the honor of introducing the concept of her work to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, whom she greatly admires.
Concept and Inspiration
This project features three columns, each carrying a childhood story depicted with positive messages, aimed at bringing joy to passersby, whether they are exercising or commuting. The core of the design is to bring some magical changes to people's lives through these fun and uplifting stories.
ING Barings
In 1999, Mancini Duffy completed the design of the 350,000-square-foot New York headquarters for ING Barings, a rapidly growing corporate investment banking company. Work was initiated when the merger of ING, a Dutch diversified financial company, and Barings, a British investment company, demanded a new headquarters space. The scope of work expanded further when the company acquired the international investment bank Furman Selz. All three firms are brought together under one roof in the new offices at Park Avenue Plaza. The main designers for this project were Gerry Atwood and Zoe Lin.
The aim was to harmonize the diverse cultures through thoughtful workplace design and flexible support areas. Office areas have primarily an open-plan concept, with uniform workstation sizes. The trading floor, for 465 traders, incorporates a universal trading desk with innovative flat screen technology. Each desk is equipped with electrical and communication ports to support sales, trading, and other operational activities.
The space features an executive area on the 34th floor which houses a reception area, seating areas, a multi-purpose meeting room, conference rooms, five client dining rooms and a full kitchen, as well as video-conferencing, audio-visual, and telecommunications capabilities. A multi-purpose meeting and training room, also with complete video-conferencing, audio-visual, and telecommunications capabilities, was completed on the 7th floor, and an employee cafeteria was created using 10,000 square feet in the adjacent former CBS building, which has been connected with Park Avenue Plaza.
This installation won an honorable mention in the New York Council, Society of American Registered Architects’ 2000 Design Awards Program.”。
Prism Communication Services, Inc
In 2000, Mancini Duffy completed Prism Communication Services' 45,000-square-foot headquarters on the 15th floor of 770 Broadway in New York City. For this fast-track installation, completed in five months from project initiation to move-in, we provided a full scope of services. Mancini Duffy also served as the design architect for Prism/Comdisco's Chicago office. The main designer for this project was Zoe Lin.
The client desired a space that would bridge the gap between the firm’s younger employees, who operate visitors, while emphasizing the client’s internet product brand and serving as a recruitment tool.
Materials such as metallic and encaustic paints, light wood, glass, and metal finishes were used to bring warmth to the space and highlight public areas. Amenity spaces, such as a café, a town hall, and open meeting areas, were built to satisfy the needs of the employees' hectic work schedules and to encourage sociability and interaction among members of the firm.
At the client's request, the principles of feng shui, the ancient Chinese art of harmonious spatial arrangement, were employed to create a calming and flowing environment in the office.
This installation won an Award of Merit in the New York Council, Society of American Registered Architects’ Fifth Annual Design Awards Program.
